Bought another new lens

Okay, so I think I have a problem. I bought another new lens last week. I’ve wanted a fast zoom lens for a while, but never had the funds. I found a used one online for pretty cheap, so I snagged it. I’m now the proud owner of a Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 lens. I haven’t quite had it for a week yet, but I must say that I absolutely love it! The wide aperture is wonderful, the lens itself is surprisingly compact, and it feels like it’s built pretty sturdily.

I bought more camera stuff…..

I bought another piece of equipment for my camera this past week. I ordered a 50mm f/1.8 lens for my camera. I’ve always wanted a prime lens with a fast aperture, and I found a good deal on one last weekend, so I ordered it.It got here Thursday, and I’m already in love. Unfortunately, I haven’t had any real reasons to use it yet, aside from taking photos of my roommate’s cat.

MY BABY CAME IN TODAY!

The camera that I ordered on Sunday, a Nikon D7000, came in today. I was in class when I got the email that it had been delivered, and it was excruciating attempting to sit through the rest of my classes. But I finally got home and was able to unbox my baby. And I must say, it sure is a beauty. It’s like upgrading to a Mercedes after driving a Toyota. I love it, and can’t wait to use it for more than taking pictures of my roommate’s cat just to test it out.

My First Blog Post

Okay, so this is my first blog post on this site. I decided that posting about my life for others to read about might be interesting, so here it is.

So for my first blog post, I guess I’ll talk about my recent “jerdy” purchase (for those not hip on the journalism lingo, a “jerd” is a “journalism nerd”). For the past two years, I’ve had a Nikon D3100 as my camera. I’ve used it a lot, and in the two years that I’ve owned it, my photographic skills have increased greatly. I have attended trainings, taken classes, and watched online tutorial videos to increase my skill set. Photography has become a big part of my life, and I even got a job recently on a marketing team taking photographs and making designs. In light of all of that, I’ve decided that it’s time to upgrade my camera. I’ve had my eye on the Nikon D7000 for a while, and a couple of hours ago, I made it official. I purchased the D7000, and should be receiving it sometime this week. I figured if photography and journalism was what I wanted to do with my life, I might as well spend a little on a camera that is more suited to my needs.

When my camera comes in, I’ll make another post talking about my experiences with it, and probably post a few photos as well.
